NP Spotlight: NBNPA Celebrates Dr. Cheryl Thaxton!

The National Black Nurse Practitioner Association would like to congratulate  that Dr. Cheryl Thaxton for receiving the Estelle Osbourne Legacy Award on 2/24/2022.

This award is in honor of Estelle Osbourne an educator, administrator, and leader who paved the way for generations of women of color in the nursing profession. Throughout her life, Estelle Osborne broke down racial barriers in healthcare education and defied a system built on racism to help provide quality healthcare for all.

Not only is Dr. Thaxton a  member of NBNPA and a recipient of the  2022 NBNPA Ambassador Award she is widely recognized for her research and education surrounding the specific needs of children and adults with life-limiting illnesses. Dr. Thaxton has served as National Faculty for the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) and has helped to launch ELNEC pediatric palliative care education programs in the United States and internationally.
