This year we have went from National Nurse Week to National Nurses Month 2021!
Todays NP Highlight is Ashley Shaw, MSN, APRN, FNP-C.
Ashley Shaw is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, currently focusing on Preventative Women’s Health Care and comprehensive prenatal care. She is an affiliate practitioner of the Women First, LLC Medical Group and collaborates with Dr. Kelsey Webb of Lafayette, LA.
Ashley is a graduate of the Southern University School of Nursing, where she received both her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Nursing. She has over 15 years of nursing experience in areas including Medical-Surgical Nursing, Cardiac Stepdown Care, and Telemetry. During this time, she has travelled to several states as a Contract Nurse. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Ashley has provided primary OB/GYN care to the underserved population in and around the St. Martinville area. She has accomplished this through her work at the Iberia Comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Care Center.
Ashley describes herself as “compassionate, personable, and caring.” She works tirelessly to ensure that her patients receive the care they deserve and have access to quality comprehensive care. When asked the question, “Why did you chose the field of nursing?”, the answer is simple “It was my calling and I love to teach.” Ashley strives to make sure her patients understand their medical conditions and works diligently to improve her patients’ health literacy.
When she is not treating patients, Ashley works with service and professional organizations, including the National Association of University Women, Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, Inc., and Sigma Theta TauInternational Nursing Society.
In her spare time, Ashley loves to spend time in New Orleans with her family and friends, travel, exercise, and browse various eclectic trendy shops.
